How to Build a Landing Page on MailChimp

Mailchimp is a versatile email marketing platform that has been around since 2001. This email marketing platform is mostly used by eCommerce businesses, freelancers and non-profit organizations.

Fortunately, Mailchimp has a landing page builder that lets anyone build a landing page on a free account.

In this article, you will learn how to use Mailchimp to design a landing page for your business.

Why Use MailChimp?

A few advantages come with using Mailchimp to build your landing page. Some of these features are;

Free tier account

Like most email marketing platforms out there, MailChimp has a free tier account that lets you test the platform and learn the ropes before committing funds to a paid account.

On the free account, you can have 500 contacts on your CRM. The free account also lets you sign up for forms, basic email templates, a landing page builder, and a creative assistant.

Unlike ConvertKit where each email is counted once, MailChimp can count an email more than once if it appears in multiple lists.

Free Email support

MailChimp offers free 30-day support in its free-tier account. Hence, if you are having issues setting up your account, you can chat with customer service for help. After 30 days, you no longer get support unless you upgrade to a paid plan.

Massive Integration

When it comes to integration, MailChimp is the king. It integrates directly with over 300 popular software without the need for Zapier or Integrately. This saves you more money as you do not need to pay for extra software.

Advanced automation

Compared to ConvertKit, MailChimp has more advanced automation which is why it is used mostly by E-commerce businesses. You can easily move customers across your CRM based on actions they perform on your website, send customers an email when they do not complete a purchase and so many more.

Transactional Emails

If your business needs to send receipts, customer invoices, password resets, etc, you can use the transactional email feature that comes with MailChimp for an extra fee. On a competing platform like ActiveCampaign, customers have to sign up for Postmark which is owned by the same company.

Great for E-commerce

If your purpose of using MailChimp is to market your E-commerce products, then MailChimp is a good fit for you. Most features on Mailchimp are built with e-commerce businesses in mind. You can integrate MailChimp with your Shopify or Woocommerce store; when you do this, you can easily add products from your store to your MailChimp landing page.

Disadvantages of using MailChimp

Complicated

MailChimp has a lot of features therefore it is a bit complicated to use. You have to spend some time navigating the website and checking how each feature works to fully understand the platform. It will take more time to get used to MailChimp.

Pricing

MailChimp can become more expensive compared to other platforms as your subscriber count grows. It costs about $45 monthly to use MailChimp with 2,500 subscribers on the Essential plan. The Essential plan also limits users to send 10 emails to all subscribers monthly.

Unsuitable for Affiliate Marketing

If you are an affiliate marketer then you need to reconsider using MailChimp. MailChimp may ban your account if you use the platform for marketing affiliate products. This is against their terms of use policy.

Basic CRM

Although MailChimp has an inbuilt CRM system, it is not as advanced as software designed holistically for customer relationship management like Zoho or HubSpot.
